Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to improve their weapons and gear with new affixes that boost its base stats or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Usually items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, whereas items with strong bases such as Eth titans don't change in their stats following being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They give you an attribute benefit, or extra effect, while the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, or found in loot from enemies, or received from chests or missions. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.

In order to upgrade the quality of a weapon or piece armor, the player must select it and then click the upgrade item button located in the toolbar. The screen will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview showing the expected upgrade statistics and the components or materials required for the upgrade.

There are three types of Upgrade Item components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which are made up of gems, can be placed in any type of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear and legendary equipment are exactly the same as jewels but provide larger bonuses and cannot be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, add their name to the end of the name of the item they are connected to, for example adding a Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the instance of upgrades for gathering tools when a player swaps one glyph by another the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. If you replace another upgrade component, it will be destroyed, except for inscriptions, which are able to be swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade process is different from previous versions in several fundamental ways. Gear is now categorized in tracks, and each item can only be upgraded so many times before it is "leveled out." The upgrade cost increases with each level up however, the materials needed don't increase as much. This allows players to focus their efforts on a handful of essential items and maximize their impact, rather than spreading out the upgrade costs across several pieces.

This allows the item to receive upgraded components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is called the Artisan's Energy. It resets at 0 if the upgrade fails or increases when the upgrade succeeds.

Once a piece is upgraded to its highest level it is able to gain affixes which will boost its attributes. The amount of affixes available is determined by the item's type. For example, an uncommon or unique weapon with a standard base will have only two affixes, while a legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade requires a specific number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on whether the item is at its current level and in what slot it is placed in. Typically, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.

If an item fails to reach its max level the NPC will offer the player the option of transfer it to a different character and then re-infuse it with another set of upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and costs the same amount of materials but will have lower chances of success.

Engineers will utilize a level to measure the height of the building against an established point, like a benchmark. This process is called a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the backsight rod and level and then turning the level and making the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to a high standard of safety and accuracy.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is a very important element of the game, and it can improve an item's damage, strength, or other attributes. This can be done via the item upgrader mod menu or using the Reroll button on an upgraded item upgrader. Rerolling can be costly and should only be done in rare cases.

The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, which are used to earn Reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or an similar item. Recyclable items come with an indicator of level that indicates how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and the upgrade cost of the item.

In the past, some upgrade items had priority affixes which made them easier to roll for than other. This meant that you'd receive the stats most important to your build more frequently than other items. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction statistics that were controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the identical chance of rolling each statistic. This could be a positive or bad thing depending on your requirements and expectations from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can also come with a bonus that boosts the power of the item by a set percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added into the usual affixes. The more you improve an item, the higher your chance of getting the bonus of your choice.

The game also comes with various sets that offer a set-based bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are equipped on an item. This is a great method to add a lot of power to a particular character without spending lots of money.

Many players prefer to reroll their equipment and weapons, particularly in the beginning of the game. Rerolling can help you get a more powerful character faster, allowing you to advance in the game and reach higher levels.

Sets

Sets are groups of elements that can be put together in various ways. They can have different sizes, have no elements at all, or contain just one element. They are useful for organizing data or separating information. They can also be used for analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways such as size and shape.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides an extensive selection of set items that can be upgraded. Certain items are worth upgrading, while others aren't. Armor sets that provide the highest defense value or set bonuses are usually worth upgrading. However, upgrades to weapons typically do not improve the quality of the item upgrader's stats when as compared to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you have a lot of weapons or armor pieces already.

Some set items are upgraded to take advantage of their own special functions that can be useful in some builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are two examples of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement increased as well).

Upgrades can also be made to bring certain items to the level of the levels. The Immortal King Set, for example, has a wide range of levels ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower level items can increase their defense and increase their competitiveness when it comes to damage.

To see if an item is worth upgrading, players can click the Upgrade button on their screen of their character. The item's attributes will be displayed together with any required items. For example the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

Generally speaking, weapons and jewelry offer greater value for trading when fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have spells or glyphs that damage weapons. This will bring about a significant improvement in their stats. Weapons with an upgraded appearance will also benefit from this as its defense value will increase as it moves from purple to gold.
